What happened
Walker Kessler has missed the Lakers' first three preseason games after jamming a finger on the backboard in training camp, and coach JJ Redick said the issue is not concerning.
Redick said Kessler will play in the preseason, with two exhibition games left against the Warriors and Nuggets before the Lakers open the regular season on October 21.
Kessler's absence leaves his preseason fit with the group untested, so his availability will matter for how the Lakers sort frontcourt minutes in the final two exhibitions. His return is still pending.
