What happened
Jayson Tatum said it felt “a little bit surreal” to share the floor with Paul George in Boston’s preseason win over Philadelphia on Saturday, after years of playing alongside Jaylen Brown.
George’s first Celtics outing produced 13 points, five rebounds, four assists and five steals in 24 minutes, and coach Joe Mazzulla called his instincts and positioning contagious.
Boston is testing a new wing pairing, but Saturday was only a preseason sample and the regular-season fit around Tatum and George is still unknown. Brown’s absence from this new-look lineup leaves the Celtics’ opening rotation and hierarchy unsettled.
