What happened
Phoenix’s preseason battle at center is still unsettled, with Oso Ighodaro starting twice and Khaman Maluach once through three games. Ighodaro has totaled 11 points, seven rebounds and four assists in his two starts, while Maluach’s lone start produced 10 points and 15 rebounds.
The teams have also seen different looks around the starters, because Maluach’s start came when Devin Booker and Miles Bridges were out. The article says it is still too early to decide who should open the regular season in that role.
The Suns’ frontcourt rotation is still open, so preseason usage may be more important than raw scoring for reading the competition. Booker and Bridges’ absence in one Maluach start also leaves some uncertainty about how each center fits with the full starting group.
