What happened
Philadelphia ruled Anfernee Simons and Adem Bona out for Friday’s preseason finale against Boston, even though both had fully practiced and joined a post-practice scrimmage, according to the team. Coach Nick Nurse said he had hoped to get them into one game before the opener.
Simons is working back from a hamstring injury and Bona from a left foot sprain, and both have missed the entire preseason so far. Nurse said they have been doing good portions of practice, but the club will wait until later to see them in game action.
Their absences leave the Sixers without two bench options in the final tune-up, while Dominick Barlow is also out. Nurse indicated the starters should play, but their exact second-half workload remains flexible.
