Reggie Miller said the Knicks’ decision to table Karl-Anthony Towns extension talks until later in the season could help limit distractions, but he warned the contract situation can still become an issue.
Miller said New York has a strong chance to repeat, yet he stressed that the team needs Towns mentally healthy and fully on board to stay difficult to beat.
The comments point to a potential off-court distraction rather than a confirmed roster change, so the main lineup effect is uncertainty around Towns’ focus and team stability. The Knicks’ season begins Oct. 20, and it is still unknown when extension talks will resume.
