In Thursday’s preseason win over Philadelphia, Julius Randle backed Jordi Fernández’s push for hard, disruptive defense by diving for a loose ball and pressing full court, and he led Brooklyn with 14 points.
Brooklyn also played without Michael Porter Jr., Day'Ron Sharpe, Mikel Brown Jr., and Joshua Jefferson, and Fernández said it is still unclear whether any of them will be available Monday in Washington.
Those absences leave frontcourt and wing minutes unsettled, so Brooklyn’s preseason rotation still depends on how those players feel after the off day. Randle’s activity suggests he may be asked to set the tone defensively while the staff evaluates other lineup options.
