NBA tightens sportsbook rules on player prop and game-opening bets

A quick read on what changed — and what it means for the rotation.

What happened

The NBA said it has worked with sportsbook partners to remove several wager types that could be easier to manipulate, including same-player prop-under parlays, unders tied to players expected to play fewer than 12 minutes, and first-basket, first-3, first-block and opening-tiponf

The league also told teams that players, coaches and training staff will receive in-person betting-rule training, and the changes will extend to the WNBA next season after last year’s gambling cases involving Terry Rozier, Chauncey Billups and Damon Jones.

LINEUP CONTEXT

This does not change a roster, but it can affect game-night betting markets and how teams handle access to sensitive information. The WNBA will adopt the same restrictions next season, while prediction markets are not included.
