What happened
Dallas acquired Zaccharie Risacher in a summer three-team trade, and the Mavericks have started him in both preseason games so far. The piece says the team is testing a buy-low wing whose value is tied to shooting and defense.
He opened the preseason with nine points and eight rebounds, then followed with two made threes and some hustle plays in the next game. The article says that profile would fit next to Cooper Flagg and Kyrie Irving if his shot and defense hold up.
His early starts suggest Dallas is giving him a real rotation audition, but the mixed preseason results leave his regular-season role unsettled. The Mavericks still have to learn whether he can be trusted as a closing wing.
