Entering the final week of preseason, Lakers coach JJ Redick still does not know when he will get a full look at his new group, and he said lingering finger and lower-leg issues are clouding Walker Kessler and Collin Sexton for Tuesday’s game in Las Vegas against Golden State.
Both offseason additions have yet to appear in a Lakers preseason game, with Kessler limited to Saturday practice and no live drills while Redick said Sexton is probably a bit further behind in his return.
If Kessler remains out, Los Angeles is likely to keep using Kevon Looney and Sandro Mamukelashvili at center. Sexton’s absence would leave the Lakers short on ballhandling behind Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves, so the preseason rotation is still unsettled.
