What happened
The Hornets are reportedly nearing a rookie extension for Brandon Miller that could start at or above the five-year, $208 million range, with rival executives said to think the offer could climb even higher.
Orlando, meanwhile, is not expected to reach an extension with Anthony Black, according to the report, leaving the Magic with another key contract decision as they head into a make-or-break season.
Charlotte’s talks point to Miller remaining a central part of the franchise plan, while Orlando’s decision leaves Black’s role and long-term status unresolved for this season. Both situations matter for future payroll planning and how each team allocates minutes and touches.
