What happened
Five former St. John’s men’s basketball alumni made NBA opening-day rosters, giving the program its largest league presence in decades as the regular season opened Tuesday.
The group includes rookies Zuby Ejiofor, Dillon Mitchell and Bryce Hopkins, while Julian Champagnie and Daniss Jenkins return with established roles for San Antonio and Detroit, respectively.
That mix could shape early rotations, with the rookies still fighting for minutes and the veterans already positioned as rotation pieces, while two-way status keeps Mitchell and Hopkins fluid.
