What happened
Jalen Duren made his first game appearance since signing his long-term deal, and he looked sharp in Detroit’s preseason win over Minnesota. He scored 24 points in 15 minutes, shooting 8-for-9 with two steals and a block.
The Pistons beat the Timberwolves 128-106, with Cade Cunningham posting 14 points and nine assists while Ausar Thompson kept handling initiation duties. Detroit also controlled the paint 64-30 and shot 57% from the floor.
Duren’s return gives Detroit a center rotation option to evaluate in preseason games. The ball-handling mix around Cunningham and Thompson still looks unsettled, so Friday’s matchup with Toronto should offer another read on roles.
