What happened
Andre Drummond’s first regular-season game with New York came against Philadelphia, and Karl-Anthony Towns’ early foul trouble pushed him into extended action. He finished with 12 points, 14 rebounds, four assists, two blocks, and no turnovers.
He helped the Knicks inside early, but his late minutes were rough, as he went 1-for-5 and posted a minus-13 in six second-half minutes. Drummond said after the game he stayed in the locker room for the ceremony so the team could have its moment.
If Towns keeps drawing early fouls, Drummond can fill minutes and rebound well, but his finishing problems could shrink his closing role.
