What happened
In Thursday’s preseason win over Sacramento, Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves connected early and each logged 25 minutes, with Doncic scoring 23 points and Reaves posting eight assists and five rebounds.
Lakers coach JJ Redick said the two have strong chemistry and give the team two ballhandlers on the floor, while Reaves returned to exhibition action after missing the first two preseason games.
Their pairing is clearly a preseason emphasis, but this game only shows fit and usage rather than a confirmed regular-season rotation. Reaves’ return matters for ballhandling depth, yet the final roles still need to be set.
