Philadelphia opens at Madison Square Garden with LeBron James and Jaylen Brown joining Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe in the expected starting group for its season debut against the Knicks. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. on NBC and Peacock on Tuesday night.
New York begins its title defense with Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns, OG Anunoby, Josh Hart and Mikal Bridges back from last season’s core, as the club raises its championship banner before tipoff. The Knicks are trying to become the first repeat champion since Golden State.
The matchup gives both teams an early rotation test, especially Philadelphia’s new star mix against New York’s returning core. Chemistry and role usage remain the main unknowns entering opening night.
